On the Field
Camping
This is one of the few airports in the state with camping right on the field. The airport has its own tent campground for the traveling pilot. Showers, laundry facilities and campfire rings are available as well as camping supplies.

There are 4 restaurants within walking distance of the airport: Oceano Fish & Chips, Old Juans Mexican Restaurant, The Rock & Roll 50's Diner.
Horseback Riding
Enjoy horseback riding on the sandy beaches of the Pacific Ocean. Silver Spur Stables is located on the approach end of Runway 29. Equestrian rental are available as well as a full hook up RV park. (805)489-8100
Monarch Butterfly Grove
The Monarch Butterfly Grove is located just a mile and a half from the airport. It can be reached by walking along the beach or riding on the bike path.
Duck Pond & Children's Playground
The county park across the street is fun for the whole family with picnic tables, a duck pond, and a children's playground.
Great American Melodrama & Vaudeville
The Great American Melodrama & Vaudeville is within walking distance of the airport. Family entertainment complete with costumed singing performers, drinks and refreshments. (805)489-2499
Hiking & More Camping
SLO County Parks have campgrounds adjacent to the airport with full hookups. Nature and hiking trails in the dunes and state parks are only a block from the airport.
Bingo
The Elks Club is two doors down and has Bingo for the public on Sunday evenings starting at 5:30 as well as food and fun for its members.
At the Beach
Dunes Tours
This is a "must do" for those of you who have never been on the Oceano Dunes. I guarantee that this experience is worth your time and money. Visit their page at http://www.pacificadventuretours.com/
Water Sports
The airport is just two short blocks from the beach. Sun bathing, fishing, clamming , surfing, boogie boarding and other water toys are available for rent.
Kayaking
Visit with the seals, otters, pelicans and dolphins. Explore beautiful kelp forests, caves, secluded coves and more! Kayak rentals are available from Central Coast Kayaks . They will pick you up from and deliver you back to the airport. Instructors and guided tours are also available.
Dune Sports
This is the only beach in California where you can drive your vehicles. Try riding the sand dunes on an ATV from B.J.'s ATV Rentals. (805)481-5411 Other rental locations are Arnies (805)473-1610 and Angelos (805)481-0355
Beach Cycles
Special cycles designed for riding on the beach are a lot of fun. The beach cycles and other beach toys are available from Beach Cycle Rentals near the pier in Pismo Beach. (They have a second web site too.)
Local Attractions
Nearby Towns
Pismo Beach is located a short two miles from the airport. This small ocean front tourist community can be reached by walking along the beach, on the bike path or with public transportation. Be sure to visit them for lodging, dining, shopping and an interesting variety of special events.
Oceano is one of five towns in an area referred to as "The Five Cities." This local area is home to many attractions we just don't have time or room to list so follow these links to find out more.
Golfing
There are several nearby golf courses including Black Lake and Le Sage. World Golf also has a listing with some course details, but it covers a larger area.

We are proud to be a stop on the route of the new Coastal Cruiser Trolley. It operates from the Oceano Airport every day from 10am to 6pm. The route will take you to Pismo Beach, Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach for 50 cents.
